What the Global Coffee Awards is
The Global Coffee Awards is a roasted coffee competition organised by Perfect Daily Grind and hosted at the Producer & Roaster Forum. It runs in regional editions; ours was the US & Canada edition, judged in August 2026 in Texas.
Coffees are scored blind. Judges see no label, no logo and no roaster name, and entries are grouped by category and by process, so a washed filter coffee is only ever compared with other washed filter coffees. Our Gold came in Filter, Washed.
The farm behind the Gold
The winning lot was grown by Wilder Garcia in Cajamarca, Peru, at 1800 metres above sea level. His 23 hectare farm keeps 16 hectares in coffee, and he works the trees himself.
Cherries are depulped the same day they are picked, given a 48 hour hermetic fermentation, then moved to solar dryers. That care is what produced the cup the judges scored: green grape, honeysuckle, coconut water and orange blossom.
